Interview with COAHM teacher, Dennis Omondi Ogutu

What is your name?

My name is Dennis Omondi Ogutu.

What subject(s) do you teach?

I teach maths and sciences.

What do you enjoy most about working here?

I really enjoy the peaceful environment of the school. Its location is far from busy roads and pubs. Also the physical appearance of the school with its bright yellow and blue paint is                                                        appealing.

Do you feel that this school helps the community? If yes, how so?

Yes, the school helps because it is connected to RUWEPO. RUWEPO runs HIV programs, regular seminars, and training. This gives hope back to the community which is so incredibly valuable. It impacts every level of the society including the children we are working with here at COAHM.

What about the school do you think could be improved if there was morefunding?

I think with more funding we could open up more advanced classes. If we could provide more than just primary education, students would be likely to continue their schooling. Also, we could benefit from more school supplies and a field for the kids to play on.

What additional courses, clubs, extra activities do you think theschool could benefit from?

I think that we could have a school water security club. We could discuss and plan projects for how to make water more accessible to the community.
